🎄 From Our Forest to Yours: Wishing You a Joyful Christmas & a Happy New Year!
As the festive lights twinkle and the crisp winter air settles over the Columbia Shuswap, we at Trees and Co. Arborist Services want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. This time of year is all about joy, reflection, and celebrating with those closest to us.
We are incredibly grateful for your trust and support throughout the past year. Serving our community, caring for its magnificent trees, and helping to create safe, beautiful landscapes is truly a privilege.
As we look forward to a new year filled with growth and opportunity, we also want to share a few tree-related thoughts for a safe and happy holiday season and a prosperous year ahead!
Festive Tree Safety Reminders for Your Home
While we focus on the trees outside, many of us bring a beautiful conifer inside for the holidays. Here are a few quick tips to keep your festive fir or spruce safe and sound:
Water, Water, Water: Your real Christmas tree is still thirsty! Keep its stand topped up with fresh water daily. A dry tree is a fire hazard.
Location Matters: Keep your tree away from heat sources like fireplaces, radiators, and heating vents.
Check Your Lights: Ensure all your holiday lights, whether indoor or outdoor, are in good condition. Frayed wires can cause electrical fires. Use LED lights for cooler temperatures and energy efficiency.
Preparing Your Outdoor Trees for Winter's Embrace
Our outdoor trees continue their quiet work through the cold months. Here are a couple of gentle reminders as they brave the winter:
Snow and Ice Watch: Heavy snow or ice can weigh down branches, especially on evergreens. If safe to do so, gently brush snow off branches with a broom (sweeping upwards) to prevent breakage. Never try to remove ice, as this can cause more damage.
Protect Young Trees: For younger or more vulnerable trees, consider protecting their trunks from sunscald (winter sunburn) or rodent damage with tree wraps or guards.
Looking Ahead to a Green New Year!
The dormancy of winter is a powerful reminder that beneath the quiet surface, life is preparing for renewal. It’s the perfect time to dream about the vibrant spring and lush summer ahead.
As you plan for 2026, consider the health and vitality of your property's trees. A healthy tree isn't just beautiful—it's an investment in your home's value, your family's safety, and our local ecosystem.
Are there any trees that seemed a little weak last year?
Do you have fruit trees that could benefit from dormant pruning for a better harvest next season?
Perhaps you're dreaming of adding a new native species to your landscape in the spring!
Whatever your tree care needs, remember that Trees and Co. Arborist Services are here year-round, even through the quiet of winter, ready to offer expert advice and professional service.
From all of us at Trees and Co. Arborist Services, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, a joyous holiday season, and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year! We look forward to seeing you and your trees in 2026.
